Developed around an original core centered in the Cozinha Velha (Old Kitchen), the house was part of a late seventeen century endowment which ennobled it with a chapel and an armoried gate set in a crenellated wall. But let us quote a visitor (1)
"The house is really beautiful with its heraldic gate set in the crenellated wall, its exterior staircase, its mismatched bodies, built as usual at the whim of centuries of convenience or growth of the household."
